DECREE OF THE GOVERNOR OF THE SPECIAL CAPITAL REGION OF JAKARTA NUMBER 542 OF 2025 REGARDING THE MOTOR VEHICLE FUEL TAX REDUCTION (KEPGUB 542/2025)
SUMMARY:
- KEPGUB 542/2025 is promulgated as a fiscal policy instrument aimed at inflation control and the maintenance of macroeconomic stability within the territorial jurisdiction of the Special Capital Region of Jakarta. The Decree further serves to facilitate national defense and security operations by providing a motor fuel tax abatement for consumers or operators of motor vehicles.
- KEPGUB 542/2025 stipulates the following tax reliefs on motor vehicle fuel tax liability:
- A fifty percent (50%) reduction in the principal tax amount otherwise due by consumers or users of private motor vehicles;
- A fifty percent (50%) reduction in the principal tax amount otherwise due by consumers or users of public transportation vehicles;
- An eighty percent (80%) reduction in the principal tax amount otherwise due for motor vehicle fuel used to:
- Support the operational deployment of primary defense and security equipment (commonly referred to as Alutsista), including but not limited to military vehicles, special-purpose heavy equipment, aircraft, radar systems, surface vessels, and submersible craft;
- Support the operational deployment of critical and auxiliary components of defense and security apparatus, including but not limited to ambulances, Landing Craft, Vehicle, Personnel (LCVP), landing craft machines, hydrofoils, and hospital ships.
ADDITIONAL PROVISIONS:
- KEPGUB 542/2025 shall enter into legal effect on the date of its enactment.
- KEPGUB 542/2025 was formally enacted on 22 July 2025.
