REGULATION OF THE MINISTER OF MARINE AFFAIRS AND FISHERIES OF THE REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA NUMBER 12 OF 2025 (PERMEN-KP 12/2025) CONCERNING THE HANDLING OF INDONESIAN FISHERMEN CAUGHT ABROAD FOR FISHING WITHOUT A LICENSE IN ANOTHER COUNTRY
SUMMARY:
- This Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Regulation was established to optimize the handling of Indonesian fishermen caught abroad for fishing without permission, which was previously regulated in the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Regulation Number 39 of 2016 concerning Procedures for the Repatriation of Indonesian Fishermen Arrested Abroad for Fishing in Other Countries Without Permission (PERMEN-KP 39/2016).
- This Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Regulation regulates:
- Procedures for handling fishermen, related to the handling of Indonesian fishermen caught abroad for fishing without a license in another country, repatriation of fishermen, and prevention of violations.
- Public participation in the handling of fishermen caught abroad for unauthorized fishing in other countries.
- Monthly reporting on the handling of fishermen caught overseas for unauthorized fishing in other countries and its evaluation.
- Transitional provisions, related to the process of implementing the return of fishermen where previously regulated in PERMEN-KP 39/2016.
OTHER PROVISIONS:
- This Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Regulation shall come into force its on the date of was enacted.
- This Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Regulation is enacted on July 16, 2025.
- When this Ministerial Regulation comes into force: PERMEN-KP 39/2016 is revoked and declared invalid.
